Participants must have an intermediate to good level (between B2 to C2) of English to assure comprehension and effective participation. Trainees should also come to the course with an idea of a scientific field, concept, product, initiative, or interest of their choosing that they can use for the final exam. Trainees are not required to be experts.
Before the first day of the course, participants are also strongly encouraged to watch all of the videos from the free version of the Coursera MOOC “Promote your Scientific Results”. These will help make their learning experience even more in-depth and enriching. The MOOC was co-authored by Bethany Cagnol (Telecom Paris), Sinead Namur (ENSTA), and Cecile Michault (Science et Partage).
The MOOC videos will help you with:
- Structuring your ideas (you will use the advice from the MOOC for Days 1, 2, and 3 of the course)
- Enhancing your presentation skills (you will use the advice from the MOOC for Days 2, 4, and 5 of the course)
- Answering challenging questions (you will use the advice from the MOOC for Days 1, 2, 4, and 5 of the course)

Objectifs pédagogiques
In this highly interactive course, learners will have the opportunity to explore various mediation pathways for sharing and relaying their own cultural experience and scientific knowledge. The first half of the course will cover a range of popular and modern intercultural communication models that will be used to foster collaborative interaction, encourage conceptual dialogue, and facilitate a pluricultural space.
Then, in the second half of the course, learners will use these intercultural foundations to gain hands-on experience showcasing their scientific work to professional peers, the general public, as well as the media. Participants will gain key takeaways for adapting one’s language to break down complex information, facilitating communication in delicate situations, mediating Q&A sessions, and adapting their message during media interviews.
This course also integrates our MOOC “Promote your Scientific Results” on Coursera as pedagogical support material. Participants are able to access the video content free of charge when registering for this online course.
