Descriptif
An introduction to the concepts and methods in the modelling of forest resources. The lectures focus on the different approaches to model forest growth and geochemical cycles. The sources of uncertainty in the predictions as well as methods to assess them are presented. The labs, based on real-world case studies, give the students the opportunity to use different types of growth models. At the end of this course, the students should be able to use a particular model and to identify its potential and limitations.
Objectifs pédagogiques
The use of several models implemented into software. The limitations of models due to the architecture, the data and others constraints.
