Descriptif
Polymers have an important influence on our life. It is practically impossible to show a field which is not affected by polymers. The development of polymers helped the industry to propose new and high performance materials like composites, biopolymers…
The use of these materials asks a rich and deep knowledge about the properties of these different types of polymers used for manufacturing of industrial parts: Physical, thermal and mechanical properties.
In this course we try to give this knowledge to our young European Engineers.

The students will present a short report on selected topics of the course at the end of program.

Programme détaillé
It is a 5-day course (Monday to Friday) for a total duration of 30 hours.
During this course different aspects will be developed:
- Basic knowledge of polymers, biopolymers and composites
- Rheology of polymers
- Polymers and composites in industry
- Life time prediction
- Effect of aging on properties of materials - polymers and composites during processing (injection molding, extrusion, rotational molding…)
- Analytical methods : differential scanning calorimetric, infra-red spectrometry, thermo-mechanical analysis, rheometry, mechanical tests
