Programme détaillé
The course provides an introduction to business and human rights through a series of concrete examples and testimonies from practitioners. The course is deeply rooted in some of the most pressing global challenges such as the elimination of child labour and forced labour (SDG 8.7). It is meant to connect the students with a diversity of business realities from different regions and initiate them to some of the very practical questions that future business professionals will have to deal with. The students will learn how to identify human rights abuses in the workplace and what mitigation strategies can be put in place. They will discover how business leaders are currently dealing with these issues, the difficulties that they are facing and some of the achievements that have already been made.
The course has the following specific objectives: raise awareness of students on the importance of human and labour rights in the global economy (1), introduce some of the key provisions of the international legal framework (2), offer a platform for discussion amongst students on how to conceal purpose, responsibility, sustainability and business (3).
