Enseignement scientifique et technique - M2 Bioceb UE Biomolecule : Biomolecules, Biomaterials, Bioénergies

Descriptif

The global development of green chemistry stimulates the use of plant biomass for the production of molecules and materials of industrial interest. Biotechnologies constitute one of the major innovation levers in the sector of bio-based industry, both for the optimization of biomass quality and for the design of performant bioconversion tools.

This course targets i) some students wishing to discover applications of biotechnologies (plant and industrial biotechnologies) in the context of green chemistry and Bioeconomy and ii) some students already involved in a training dedicated to Biorefinery and Green chemistry which are looking for practical experience in plant biochemistry and contacts with networks of experts.

The course is shared between the DA Biotech and the M2 BEB of the European Master Bioceb, which offers the opportunity to follow a course in English in an intercultural context.

Objectifs pédagogiques

The aim of this course is to introduce the different variations of the green chemistry concept (use of renewable carbon and clean chemical synthesis) and to show how they can be applied to the valorization of plants by combining different biotechnological approaches (plant, microbial and animal biotechnologies).

The course is structured around project work in groups of 3-4 students. This involves designing a biorefinery system in response to a European call for projects. The aim is to apply the scientific and technical knowledge acquired during the course and with the help of the bibliography, and to acquire project engineering skills in the context of the bioeconomy.
